A Leading Food Manufacturer Upgrades Process Area with Chemically Resistant Coating System

Products used: Stonchem 801
Application Area: Process Area

A leader in the French food and beverage sector has upgraded the flooring in its baby food manufacturing process area using Stonhard’s Stonchem 801 coating system. The installation improves chemical resistance, reduces maintenance needs, and lowers the risk of operational downtime from failing floor coatings.

Challenges & Customer Requirements

The existing flooring in its UHT-GBB area had suffered chemical attack from routine cleaning-in-place (CIP) processes, leading to deterioration of the existing flooring system. This degradation posed risks to operational safety, hygiene, and long-term floor durability. Additionally, the client required a solution that could withstand heavy foot traffic, equipment movement, and stringent food processing hygiene standards while minimising production interruptions during installation.

Before

Solution

The client partnered with Stonhard, a global manufacturer and installer of industrial linings, for a comprehensive turnkey solution. The team applied Stonchem 801vinyl ester based coating system renowned for its exceptional chemical resistance, over the failing substrate.

The project included:

- Concrete substrate repairs and reinforcement

- Thorough surface preparation

- Application of Stonchem 801 across the process area 309 m²

- Quality control and finishing to ensure seamless coverage

Stonhard’s turnkey approach ensured end-to-end project management, minimizing disruption to production while delivering a high-quality, durable floor system.

“Choosing Stonhard’s turnkey solution gave us confidence in both the product performance and installation quality,” said a client representative. “Stonchem 801 provides the chemical resistance we needed, helping protect our facility and maintain hygiene standards for years to come.”

After

The upgraded process area now features a durable, chemically resistant floor that protects against ongoing CIP chemical exposure. Maintenance requirements are significantly reduced, and operational risks associated with floor deterioration are minimized. The project supports the client’s commitment to efficiency, safety, and hygiene compliance, while ensuring the long-term resilience of its production infrastructure.

This installation highlights how Stonhard’s turnkey solutions, combining innovative material technology with expert installation, can deliver cost-effective, long-lasting protection for demanding food and beverage environments.
